I have some very bad news. Wikidot has decided that they will start to put ads on free websites. For me personally, this is a no go zone. I will not put effort in maintaining, let alone providing any more content if it requires adverts. That means that this website will go offline unless anybody cares enough to become the Administrator for it. If you care enough, become a member of the site and I will make you Master Administrator. The site is then yours to do as you wish with it.

Welcome to filesharing.wikidot.com.
This site is meant to give a good overview of the free technologies available for file-sharing, including its advantages and disadvantages, explanations about security, etc. It is not meant to go into details about the usage of individual software or sites, but to give the user a good base of information to choose between the different possibilities.
Apart from comparison of services and software, there will be background articles for beginners to get started with file-sharing, as well as specific guides as to how to scan documents properly, how to rip/encode music properly. In that sense the site might become quite broad, for example it might also list and compare software to rip cd's, audio formats, etc…
This site is open for editing by anyone, in the hope of keeping all the info up to date. If you want to contribute, please read this thread about contributing.
